Arne Roennau

is a full professor at the Institut for Information Management in Engineering and is head of the Machine Intelligence and Robotics Lab. Previously, he was head of the robotics department at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology.

Research at the new chair combines aspects of computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering in order to develop new types of intelligent machines and robots. The aim is to combine dynamics, model knowledge and individual characteristics of a system with current AI methods in such a way that the systems become more efficient and powerful. The work concentrates on three key areas that build on each other:

  • Design Concepts for Intelligent Machines
  • Situational- and Self-Awareness
  • Strategic Actions and Decisions for Autonomy
